Trying to remember that the topic of a painting isn't the point of it so the accuracy only matters so much, like Papa Cezanne taught over a hundred years ago. The paint will tell me what to do if I keep open enough to hear it. Patterns of strokes, texture in all senses and colors should move through the various planes crossing what seem traditionally like boundaries to connect everything within the surface. We and things are all embedded in time and float through as part of it. The surface of the paint is where those interactions happen
as you work. That's my story and i'm sticking with it.

AuthorBlue-collar college survivor in love with paint and every way it can be applied to a surface; making big noises with an electric guitar in bands, solo and behind performance art and dance performances. First generation born in the US not on a peasant hectare; thus, identity and class politics are inherent if not obvious in my work. We are embedded in our time as are figures in paint with color and rhythm passing through. ArchivesCategories |
